Co-convener(s) | Dr. Yutaka Takahashi (Geological Survey of Japan, Japan) Dr. Hidetoshi Hara (Geological Survey of Japan, Japan) |
Session Description | The aim of this session is to better understand the tectonics and tectonic evolution of Asia and Oceania regions. While we welcome both regional and local tectonic synthesis from Precambrian to Cenozoic in age, following are the main topics we emphasize in this session: (1) Collision-related tectonics and assembly of Gondwana, (2) Subduction-related tectonics in West Pacific and Northeast Indian oceans, (3) Paleogeography, paleooceanography, paleoenvironment and paleogeomorphology of Paleo-Pafic, Paleo-Tethys, Meso-Tethys, Neo-Tethys, Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean, (4) Intra-plate deformation in Asia and Oceania, (5) Tectonics and deformation along Eastern Asian continental margin, (6) Metallogensis and mineral potentials of East and Southeast Asia and (7) Geochemistry and gensis of ore deposits in Australasian Region. We also welcome the participation of wide ranges of topics related to the tectonics of Asian and Oceania, as well as recent geochemical, isotopic and geochronological studies of mineralized foldbelts. |
