Session Description | The Polar Regions are remote areas of the Earth that have profound significance for the Earth's climate, environments, ecosystems and human society. The International Polar Year (IPY) 2007-2008 will be conducted with the concept of an international programme of coordinated, interdisciplinary scientific research and observations in the Earth's polar regions; to explore new scientific frontiers, to deepen our understanding of polar processes and their global linkages, and to increase our ability to detect changes. Frontier of Polar Science session will strive to advance the concept of IPY 2007-2008. The meeting will provide an opportunity for presentations to explore scientific frontiers based on polar research. Recent scientific topics and future plans in the Polar Regions are also welcome. |
