Section HS - Hydrological Sciences
Session Title Statistical and Stochastic Hydrology
Main Convener Dr. Sri Srikanthan (Bureau of Meteorology, Australia)
Co-convener(s) Dr. Chavalit Chaleeraktrakoon (Thammasat University, Thailand)
Session Description An understanding of the inherent stochastic nature of climate is necessary for effective management of water resource systems. Statistical and stochastic methods are an integral part of any analysis to assess the reliability or risk of any water resource system. The objective of this session is to look at the recent developments in the filed of statistical and stochastic hydrology. Contributions are sought on the applications on a wide range of topics including Flood frequency analysis, Drought/low flow analysis, Storage -yield analysis and Stochastic modelling of hydroclimatic data.
