While atmosphere-ocean interactions at global and basin scale, such as the coupled processes associated with El Nino/Southern Oscillation, have been studied extensively, mesoscale air-sea interactions associated with tropical and extra-tropical cyclones, as well as coastal processes remain poorly understood. This session welcomes papers discussing all aspects of air-sea interaction processes that occur at mesoscale and in the coastal zone. We particularly welcome papers in the following areas: interactions between extra-tropical cyclones and fronts and oceanic western boundary currents and eddies; coupling between tropical cyclones and ocean; wind-wave-current interactions; storm surge; coastal and marine fog; land-sea breeze system; coastal ocean modeling and prediction systems. |
