Section | ST - Solar & Terrestrial Sciences |
Session Title | Open Session on the Heliosphere and Cosmic Rays |
Main Convener | Prof. Periasamy K. Manoharan (NCRA, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research,, India) |
Co-convener(s) | Dr. Marcus Duldig (Australian Antarctic Division, Australia) |
Session Description | We invite presentations to address the current state of knowledge and new results concerning the broad spectrum of solar and heliospheric physics, which are not directly appropriated to any of the specific dedicated sessions. We invite papers, but not limited to, the following key topics: origin of the solar wind; coronal heating; magnetic flux emergence and transport; solar cycle evolution of magnetic field on large and small scales and the corresponding variability in the solar atmosphere; 3-D structure of the corona and solar wind; physics of coronal mass ejections; flares and energy release; particle acceleration and transport in flares; diagnostics of solar energetic particle events; energetic particles in the interplanetary medium; heliospheric evolution of the solar wind flow and its coupling with the Earth's magnetosphere and subsequent modulations; plasma interaction and magnetic reconnection processes on various scales in the Sun-Earth system; discussions of relevant theoretical results to strengthen the above various observational prospectives. This session will include invited talks, contributed oral and poster papers. |
