Session Description Hydrological forecasting over timescales from hours to decades plays an important role in planning and operation of water supply, agriculture, hydroelectric power generation, river navigation systems and in the reduction of flood damages. This session is intended to cover a wide range of topics including, but not limited to: short and long term rainfall forecasting, drought forecasting, river and reservoir system operation, seasonal water availability forecasting, water demand forecasting and real-time flood forecasting. Related topics also included in the session are the data assimilation and the use of ensemble forecasts which enable one to objectively quantify the uncertainty in the forecasts produced. The session invites presentations focussing on the above topics.
