Asia and Oceania have been struck by frequent disastrous earthquakes and tsunamis during history. After the giant earthquake and tsunami off Sumatra Island in December 2004, a series of earthquakes struck the region including 2005 Nias, 2005 Pakistan, 2006 Jogjakarta, 2006 Java, 2007 Solomon, and 2007 Sumatra earthquakes. This session offers a forum to exchange survey reports, seismological and geophysical observations, and studies on recent events. Reports on recent earthquakes and tsunamis in other areas on the Earth are also welcome. |
