Session Title | GPS/Gravity and its Applications in Active Tectonics and Geophysics |
Main Convener | Dr. WenBin Shen (Wuhan University, China) |
Co-convener(s) | Dr. Cheinway Hwang (National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan) Dr. Shuanggen Jin (Korea Astronomy and Space Science Insitute, Korea, South) |
Session Description | Space geodetic techniques, particularly high precision GPS and time-varying gravity field from terrestrial (e.g. superconducting gravimeters) and space gravity observations (e.g. CHAMP, GRACE), have given unprecedented insights in Active Tectonics, Seismology, Oceanography, Hydrology and Geodynamics. These include GPS/Gravimetry observations and understanding on active tectonic deformation in complex deforming Asia-Oceania zones, co- and post-seismic deformation, Earth Rotation (e.g. variation of the length of day (LOD)); inner core motion (super rotation, oscillation, wandering, precession, etc.); sea level and ice thickness changes; the water cycle and glaciers, etc. This session welcomes all GPS/Time-Varying Gravity field and their applications in Active tectonics and Geophysics. |
