Session Description One of the aims of hydrology is to establish transferable hydrological prediction methods across regions and scales to realize hydrologic predictions in ungauged basins. In this session, we wish to discuss the progress of hydrologic prediction methods through the estimation/reduction of prediction uncertainty. The session topics include: hydrologic model evaluation and improvement in ungauged basins through prediction uncertainty assessments; hydrologic modeling for ungauged basins with globally available Earth observation data; frequency analysis of hydrologic extremes in ungauged basins with scaling and regionalization; downscaling of global hydrologic information for local scale watershed managements in ungauged basins; hydrologic modeling system development to assist hydrologic predictions in ungauged basins. Development of guidelines for hydrologic observations, observation network design and hydrologic modeling to reduce prediction uncertainty is also welcome.
