Session Title Earth’s Surface Processes: Changing Hydrology, Evolving Landscape, and Emerging Vegetation Patterns
Main Convener Prof. Kyungrock Paik (Korea University, Korea, South)
Co-convener(s) Prof. Christoph Hinz (The University of Western Australia, Australia)
Dr. Gavan McGrath (The University of Western Australia, Australia)
Session Description Understanding feedback mechanisms between ecological, geomorphological, and hydrological processes over various time scales is crucial to make hydrological predictions and to evaluate the impact of climate change. In this session, we invite studies on a wide range of these interactive processes on Earth’s surface. Both field-based and theoretical (or modelling) studies are sought. Example areas for applications are (but not limited to) the following themes: field observation or theoretical explanation of vegetation patterns; modelling landscape evolution; characteristic patterns of geomorphology-new observations or theoretical background for known patterns; the role of flora and/or fauna in the catchment scale erosion-deposition processes; and linking all or any two of ecological, geomorphological, and hydrological processes.
