Session Title Climate Change Research: Regional Climate Modelling and Hydrological Impacts
Main Convener Dr. Philippe Gachon (Environment Canada, Canada)
Co-convener(s) Dr. Srivatsan Raghavan (National University of Singapore, Singapore)
Session Description The session is expected to highlight recent research studies in the area of regional climate modelling focusing on climate change and its impacts, specifically, hydrological impacts at regional and local scales. With the advent of high resolution regional climate models (RCMs), regional climate modelling techniques have received wide attention and the necessity for regional climate projections at local and regional scales are being felt for devising robust adaptation strategies. For countries such that in SouthEast Asia, climate change risks due to flooding, sea level rise, coastal managements, salt water intrusions and infectious diseases pose a serious threat. Recent studies that have addressed some of these issues could be a presented in this session that would bring in more collaborations and opportunities for wider scientific research.
