Session Title | Nonlinear Dynamics of the Coastal Zone |
Main Convener | Dr. Ira Didenkulova (University of Sheffield, United Kingdom) |
Co-convener(s) | Prof. Efim Pelinovsky (Institute of Applied Phsics, Russian Federation) Prof. Narcisse Zahibo (University of Antilles Guyane, Guadeloupe) |
Session Description | The session deals with all aspects of nonlinear dynamics of the coastal zone, including i) modern physical and mathematical theories of nonlinear water waves; ii) manifestations of marine natural hazards (tsunami, freak waves, storm surges, impact of high-speed ferries, etc) in coastal waters; iii) nonlinear internal waves and mixing in stratified flow; iv) wave-bottom interaction and sediment transport; v) numerical and experimental modeling of nonlinear processes in the coastal zone; vi) analysis and processing of data of observations, which demonstrate the nonlinear character of these processes. Special attention is paid to the description of the wave breaking process, and large-amplitude wave interaction with coastal structures. |
