Session Title | Earthquake Early Warning and Precursors |
Main Convener | Prof. Yih-Min Wu (National Taiwan University, Taiwan) |
Co-convener(s) | Prof. Zhongliang Wu (Institute of Geophysics, China Earthquake Administration, China) |
Session Description | An earthquake early warning (EEW) system could provide rapid alert prior to significant ground shaking. Operational warning systems in Japan, Mexico and Taiwan now provide seconds to tens of seconds of warning prior to damaging shaking. Currently, new EEW systems are developing in many countries. Earthquake precursor related study could be an important issue for the future earthquake early warning. Thus, in this session, we invite scientists, engineers, and social scientists working on all aspects of earthquake early warning and earthquake precursors to share perspectives, techniques, and lessons learned. |
