Session Description | The rapid advancement of both satellite remote sensing and numerical modeling has largely enhanced our research capability in ocean sciences, and has resulted in many new findings that are otherwise impossible to reach. However, how to combine satellite remote sensing and modeling in an effective manner is still a challenge faced by oceanography society. The aim of this session is to review new algorithms and applications of satellite ocean remote sensing, to discuss various ocean modeling experiments with regional and global models, as well as ocean-atmosphere coupled models, and to exchange ideas between satellite and physical oceanographers. In particular, we encourage papers on combined use of remote sensing and numerical modeling. Studies that demonstrate the needs for improvement and modification of remote sensing methodology and modeling strategy are also welcome |
