Session Description The Earth’s magnetosphere is a complex system in which processes work at a variety of scales and couple across those scales. Simulations, ranging from global simulations of the system to microscale simulations of basic processess, are an important means of understanding the dynamics of the system as a whole and providing a context for understanding observations. This session will examine magnetospheric simulations on all scales, as well as issues related to cross-scale coupling. We also solicit papers that compare simulations and observations in order to validate simulations, as well as papers that combine simulations and observations to provide insight into magnetospheric physics that neither alone can provide.
