Session Details
Section ST - Solar & Terrestrial Sciences
Session Title Heliospheric Remote Sensing Using Interplanetary Scintillation and Thomson Scattering
Main Convener Dr. Bernard Jackson (University of California, San Diego, United States)
Co-convener(s) Dr. Ken'Ichi Fujiki (Nagoya University, Japan)
Session Description We invite members of the interplanetary scintillation (IPS) community to provide details of, and recent innovations for use with this ground-based instrumentation. These ground-based analyses have been enhanced by collaborative efforts between these and space-based instrumentation including in-situ measurements from Ulysses, and space-based remote-sensing images from instruments such as the SOHO coronagraphs, the Solar Mass Ejection Imager (SMEI), Hinode, and the heliospheric imagers on the STEREO. We invite papers and discussion of how this analysis will continue, and in addition, how these analyses and observations will be enhanced by future space-based missions such as the ESA/NASA Solar Orbiter and NASA's Solar Probe.
