Session Title Mountain Hydrogeology and Sustainability of Water Resources
Main Convener Dr. Kuo-Chin Hsu (National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan)
Co-convener(s) Prof. Jim Yeh (University of Arizona, United States)
Prof. Cheng-Haw Lee (National Cheng-Kung University, Taiwan)
Dr. Yunshuen Wang (Central Geological Survey, Taiwan)
Dr. Masaya Yasuhara (National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, Japan)
Session Description The sustainable use of groundwater becomes more challenge under the increasing hydrological extreme events and stress of anthropogenic activity. Especially, mountain plays an important role as head water of stream, recharge area of groundwater and habitat of biodiversity. Proper strategies of mountain water resource management rely on the understanding of hydrogeology and its interaction with environment. Field tests, data exploration, conceptual model establishment and, numerical modeling may be needed for strategy development. Papers from fundamental to applied mountain hydrogeology research contributing to fieldwork, new approaches, modeling, sustainability, and interaction evaluation are welcomed.
