Session Title Geologic Storage of Carbon Dioxide
Main Convener Dr. Andrew Lin (Natioinal Central University, Taiwan)
Co-convener(s) Dr. John Kaldi (Cooperative Research Centre for Greenhouse Gas Technologies, Australia)
Session Description Carbon dioxide geological storage (CGS) in deep geological formations is widely considered as a promising measure on mitigating the increasing concentrations of atmospheric CO2 due to combustion of fossil fuels. Many CGS projects, either commercial or pilot scales, are undertaking in many countries and are conducted both in onshore and offshore areas. This session solicits papers on various subjects on CO2 geological storage. They may include, but not limited to, national or field-scale feasibility studies of CO2 geosequestration, site characterizations, reports for ongoing CO2 geosequestration projects, CO2 trapping mechanism, modeling on the behavior of injected CO2 and its interactions with host rocks and fluids, risk assessment and related health and safety issues.
