Session Description Presentations of the observational, theoretical analysis and numerical simulation result on the dynamics and physics-chemistry processes in the middle atmosphere are welcome. The climate change in the middle atmosphere is acquiring substantial concerns. There have been new observational analysis results or prospects from scenario studies. Potential researches on the mechanisms for climate change due to solar and green house gas effect are conducted. The vertical propagation of multi-scale and multi-type atmospheric waves, in term of a parameterization scheme, couples the atmospheric layers from the troposphere to the mesosphere and lower thermosphere, which plays the key role in maintaining the middle atmospheric circulation. The focus of the investigation on the stratosphere troposphere exchange (STE) is placed on the chemistry and microphysical processes in the tropical tropopause layer (TTL) as well as that in the extra-tropical upper troposphere and lower stratosphere region (UTLS). This session encourages new research results on all these topics, particularly, the results of the researches on polar and monsoon region are most encouraged.
