Session Title | Multi-scale Seismic Imaging of Southeast Asia and Surrounding Regions |
Main Convener | Dr. Erdinc Saygin (Australian National University, Australia) |
Co-convener(s) | Prof. Sri Widiyantoro (Bandung Institute of Technology, Indonesia) |
Session Description | Southeast Asia is a region where complex geological processes are taking place. The region hosts a number of convergent plate boundaries, plates of various sizes, continental blocks and volcanic arcs. In addition to its importance for Earth sciences, it is also essential to study these features for understanding the cause and nature of natural disasters occurring in the region. By delineating all of these features with seismic techniques of multiple scales, a coherent picture can be put forward. In this session we welcome oral and poster contributions from active and passive seismic techniques with scales ranging from immediate subsurface to much deeper structure used for imaging Southeast Asia and surrounding regions. |
