Main Convener | Mr. Pengfei Li (The University of Queensland, Australia) |
Co-convener(s) | Dr. Gideon Rosenbaum (The University of Queensland, Australia) Prof. Bill Collins (University of Newcastle , Australia) |
Session Description | Accretionary orogenesis is a fundamental process controlling continental growth. It is widely recognized in ancient and modern orogens, such as the Central Asian Orogen and the Circum-Pacific. The evolution of accretionary orogens commonly involves episodic migration of the whole subduction system, as well as terrane accretion and oroclinal bending. This session will encompass all aspects of studies on the processes of accretionary orogenesis. We particularly invite contributions on the magmatic evolution of accretionary orogens, sedimentary history, deformation and metamorphism. |
