Session Description | Satellite remote sensing has played a key role in observing atmosphere and ocean for decades. The observation capabilities from LEO platform have been demonstrated successfully for many components of the atmosphere and ocean, which led the community to understand much better with the aid of numerical models. With the development of GEO satellite programs, it became possible to monitor diurnal cycles of and understand feedback mechanisms among atmospheric composition, meteorological and oceanographic properties. The Asia-Pacific region has already very active GEO programs, including GEO-KOMPSAT, FY, MTSAT, INSAT and so on. This session is to find out the current status of GEO capabilities and seek for synergies among the current and future mission components, together with the modeling approach. |
