Session Title | The Outer Heliosphere |
Main Convener | Dr. John Richardson (Massachusetts Institute of Technology, United States) |
Co-convener(s) | Prof. Iver Cairns (University of Sydney, Australia) |
Session Description | The 10 years since the outer heliosphere session at the first AOGS meeting have been active: both Voyager spacecraft have crossed the termination shock into the heliosheath, Voyager 1 may even have crossed the heliopause into the interstellar medium, and the properties of the energetic particles and other in situ measurements continue to surprise us. Moreover, the IBEX spacecraft has spent over three years in Earth orbit mapping ENAs from the outer heliosphere, giving a global view of this region. Models have adapted to these new observations and become increasingly sophisticated. This session covers new results on the broad range of topics associated with the outer heliosphere: data, theory, and simulation papers are all welcome. |
