Session Description | Earthquakes are one of the most costly and deadly natural disasters. Increasing evidence show that earthquakes may affect each other over various timescales through a complex system of interacting faults. Understanding such a complex system dynamics requires integration of laboratory experiments, field observation, modeling and simulation. This session will provide a forum for researchers to interact with colleagues and to integrate results from laboratory, geodetic, and geological observation with geodynamic modeling to investigate stress evolution, strain partitioning and rupture pattern in various seismogenic regions and explore their implications for earthquake hazard and deep underground engineering issues. |
