Session Title | Paleoclimate and Environmental Studies of the Asia-Oceania |
Main Convener | Dr. Intan Suci Nurhati (Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology, Singapore) |
Co-convener(s) | Dr. Tsuyoshi Watanabe (Hokkaido University, Japan) |
Session Description | High-resolution geological archives shed lights on the role of natural versus anthropogenic forcing on our climate and environments. Such records complement the coverage of modern instrumental measurements, and altogether may improve regional climate modeling of the coming centuries. We invite contribution from recent studies in paleoclimate and environment from the Asia-Oceania region (e.g. via corals, trees, stalagmites, etc). As well as, studies that refine interpretations and uncertainties of these records, such as those arising from the vital effect, non-linearity, etc. We welcome studies that aim to understand local environmental changes as well as large-scale climate variability in the Indo-Pacific region -- such as the monsoon, ENSO, IOD, the Indonesian Througflow, and the global hydrological changes. |
