Session Title | Ocean Circulation Variability and Associated Sea Level Changes in the Mid-latitude Pacific Ocean |
Main Convener | Dr. Yoshinori Sasaki (Hokkaido University, Japan) |
Co-convener(s) | Dr. Niklas Schneider (University of Hawaii, United States) |
Session Description | Ocean circulation variability in the mid-latitude Pacific Ocean plays major roles in not only climate but also coastal sea levels. The spatial scale range of ocean circulation variability extends thousands of kilometers to mesoscale and submesoscale processes, and its temporal scale covers seasonal to decadal. Recent progresses of in-situ and satellite observations, and high-resolution numerical models give new insights into ocean circulation processes. This session explores all aspects of ocean circulation processes, such as (but not limited to), currents, jets, waves, eddies, and water-mass processes, and also associated coastal sea level changes. We invite contributions for understand ocean circulation variability through observation, theoretical and modeling studies. |
