Session Description Rock magnetic methods yield information about magnetic mineralogy and can provide important insights that enable quantification, detection, and monitoring of signals from past and present environments. Rock magnetic data can also provide information about ambient depositional and diagenetic processes in sediments, paleoclimatic cycles, and volcanic processes. Paleomagnetic data enable dating of rocks, assessment of tectonic processes and analysis of the Earth's magnetic field and deep-Earth processes throughout Earth history. We solicit studies that make use of paleo-, rock and environmental magnetic data in relation to geologic and geomagnetic processes. We also welcome theoretical, experimental, and other contributions that explore the reliability and application of paleo-, rock and environmental magnetic methods.
