Session Description | Over the past few decades, seismic imaging and tomography have advanced significantly in many fronts to refine and sharpen the picture of the earth’s internal structures across various spatial scales, which improve our knowledge on plate tectonics and geodynamics. The rapid growth of dense, high-quality seismic arrays and multiphase data extracted from seismic ballistic waves, coda waves, and ambient noise and the development of advanced wave propagation theory and computational methodology have equally contributed to the progress. In this session we invite presentations on the related subjects including, but not limited to, data acquisition and processing approaches, seismic imaging techniques and practices, ambient noise and earthquake traveltime and full waveform tomography to explore the velocity heterogeneity, anisotropy and attenuation structures of the earth on different scales. |
