Session Description | Asia Pacific regions are located in the areas with high ecosystem service and biodiversity. On the other hand, these areas with high population have huge risk and disasters such as flooding, earthquake, typhoon, and tsunami. Understanding these dynamic planet in Asia-Pacific region including Asia Monsoon and Ring of Fire are very important for sustainable society under the pressures of climate change and global development. For these global environmental problems in Asia Pacific region, not only discipline oriented researches but also inter and trans disciplinary researches are needed. New international research program, “Future Earth” promotes these inter- and trans disciplinary researches for global sustainability with understanding dynamic planet, global development, and transformation toward to sustainability. In this session, results from Global Environmental Change (GEC) Researches such as WCRP, IGBP, DIVERSITAS, IHDP and ESSP, as well as Future Earth research plans are welcome from Asia Pacific region, in particularly but not limited from the point of views of integrated research, reviews and summary of the research program. |
