Session Description | Multicomponent reaction models are being applied worldwide with increasing frequency to problems of geochemical and biogeochemical interest throughout the hydrosphere. Application of computer modeling techniques to study kinetic and equilibrium reaction processes spans a spectrum of specialties, from oceanography and limnology to geothermal and hydrothermal systems to contaminant fate and transport, and even atmospheric science, to name just a few. Despite the burgeoning interest in the modeling techniques, there is in the conveners’ opinion too little interaction among the specialties, so that innovations and critical results from one area of study are not invariably communicated effectively to practitioners in other areas. The purpose of this session is to bring geochemical modelers from throughout geoscience together in one place, where they can share perspectives, techniques, and results. |
