Main Convener | Dr. Masahito Nose (Kyoto University, Japan) |
Co-convener(s) | Dr. Chih-Ping Wang (University of California, Los Angeles, United States) Dr. Hiroshi Hasegawa (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, Japan) Dr. Qiugang Zong (Peking University, China) |
Session Description | This session focuses on the origin and transport of the plasma that populates the magnetosphere, and propagation of waves in the wide frequency ranges from mHz to MHz. The objectives of this session are to address various physical processes relating to (1) the entry of the solar wind and ionosphere particles into the magnetosphere, (2) the subsequent transport within the magnetosphere, (3) their dependence on the solar wind conditions and geomagnetic activity, (4) the wave generation and propagation, and (5) the particle acceleration through the wave-particle interaction. This session also covers other topics of the Earth's magnetosphere which do not fit into the other more specific sessions. Contributions reporting the latest results from theory, modeling, simulation, and analysis of ground-based and satellite data are welcome. |
