Dr. Hyungjun Kim (The University of Tokyo, Japan)
Session Description It is a challenge to quantify natural- and human-induced climate change impacts on regional/global-scale hydrology and water resources because large uncertainties exist in projected changes in climate, which control the total available freshwater resources. Human water management has largely altered the Earth’s hydrological cycle and water resources demands. The absence of the human fingerprint of water management in model results in unrealistic simulations of the water cycle. This session solicits papers focusing on the exchange of water and energy in the land-atmosphere-ocean system, as well as the relevant mechanisms controlling the natural and anthropogenic-related water fluxes (e.g., precipitation and evapotranspiration) in climate processes from analyses of observations and model simulations, and implications for regional/global-scale water resources.
