Session Description | Climate modes such as Asian monsoon, IOD, ENSO and ENSO Modoki are affecting the socioeconomic conditions through the abnormal weather and extreme events under the stress of global warming. Therefore, it is important to enhance prediction skills of those climate modes for regional applications besides exploring the predictability skills of new regional climate modes such as the Ningaloo NiƱo. In particular, resolving climate processes on sub-seasonal to decadal timescales will be the basis in improving seasonal prediction models available for actual mitigation measures to save the society from climate hazards. The prediction information needs to be delivered in an applicable way to various sectors such as agriculture, water management, human health and urban adaptation. This session will provide an active platform for researchers from climate and social science backgrounds to address the multi-disciplinary aspects of climate prediction and its societal applications. We welcome abstract submissions on any of the subjects related to climate variability, its predictability and related societal applications. |
