Session Title | Aerosol and Cloud Processes in the Maritime Continent and Mainland South-East Asia |
Main Convener | Dr. Santo Salinas (Centre for Remote Imaging, Sensing and Processing (CRISP), National University of Singapore, Singapore) |
Co-convener(s) | Dr. Jeffrey Reid (Naval Research Laboratory, United States) Mr. Brent Holben (NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, United States) Prof. Neng-Huei Lin (National Central University, Taiwan) |
Session Description | The Maritime Continent (MC) and mainland South-East Asia (SEA) host one the most complex aerosol and cloud processes in the world. Unique meteorological conditions coupled to a consistently high cloud cover poses a substantial challenge for in-situ and satellite remote sensing observations. To address these issues, this session aims to provide a platform for communicating, discussing and sharing research experiences from both the MC and SEA. Papers discussing issues from fundamental aerosol studies either from in-situ and remote sensing, aerosol micro-physics and chemistry, aerosol transport, radiative processes and aerosol impact on climate; clouds and precipitation, aerosol-cloud interaction as well as satellite data products assessment and its efficacy across the region. |
