Section BG - Biogeosciences
Session Title Palaeoenvironmental Records and Biogeochemical Processes
Main Convener Dr. Intan Suci Nurhati (SMART, Singapore)
Co-convener(s) Dr. Sanpisa Sritrairat (Mahidol University, Thailand)
Dr. B N Tiwari (Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, India)
Session Description Geological archives shed lights on the role of natural versus anthropogenic forcing on our climate and environments. Such records complement the coverage of modern instrumental measurements, and altogether may improve regional climate and environmental modeling in the coming decades. We invite contribution from paleoclimate and paleoenvironmental studies in the Asia-Oceania region using archives such as but not limited to corals, trees, stalagmites, and sediments. We welcome studies that aim to understand local environmental changes as well as large-scale climate variability in the Indo-Pacific region -- such as the monsoon, ENSO, IOD, the Indonesian Throughflow, and the global hydrological changes.
