Session Title Water Resources Planning, Management and Decision-Making under Hydrological Uncertainty
Main Convener Dr. Yung-Chia Hsu (National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan)
Co-convener(s) Prof. Gene J-Y You (National Taiwan University, Taiwan)
Prof. Bellie Sivakumar (University of New South Wales, Australia)
Session Description Water is an essential resource for all life in the world. Facing various climate and socio-economic challenges, sustainability of our water resources and environment is becoming a significant issue. The sustainability of water is largely affected by practices of water resources planning, management and decision-making. However, the inherent uncertainty of hydroclimatic processes, and Nature at large, often complicates these practices. This session examines the issues associated with the planning and management of our water- resources and environment. Studies that address both theoretical development and practical applications on water resources availability and demand, water resources planning and management modeling, socio-economic factors, , drought and flood prevention, decision making processes, stochastic optimization are all welcome. We especially encourage interdisciplinary studies that attempt to bridge science and policy.
