Session Description | Numerical modeling and observations are indispensable for our understanding of regional oceanic and coastal processes. Recently, we have seen the regional oceanic and coastal modeling become higher resolution, that incorporate current-wave-wind interaction, multiple-level online nesting, and regional response to climate change. The computing cloud skill development also adds fresh momentum to push the modeling tools to a higher level. The regional coastal ocean models require inputs of momentum, heat and freshwater on the surface and lateral boundaries. Both the assessment of the modeling results and improvement of initial condition demand the development and use of regional observational systems. This session welcomes all abstracts on regional oceanic and coastal numerical modeling and remote sensing and in-situ observations including relevant data analysis for waves, winds and currents. Abstracts on the assimilation of observational data are also welcome. |
