Main Convener Dr. Huaiyu Yuan (Macquarie University, Australia)
Co-convener(s) Prof. Huajian Yao (University of Science and Technology of China, China)

Dr. Chin-Wu Chen (National Taiwan University, Taiwan)
Session Description The East Asian and Australian continents are similar in a way that they have both preserved a remarkable tectonic history, from the Archean crust formation in the cores, to the Cenozoic deformation processes that have greatly modified the margins. Across-scale studies of the crust and sub-continental lithospheric mantle can give a thorough view of the present time lithospheric architecture and dynamics, while multi-disciplinary integrations may advance our understanding of the associated processes through time. We call for contributions from, but not limited to, seismology, geodynamics, tectonics, geochemistry and magnetotellurics to draw inferences in the similarities and differences regarding the birth, evolution and deformation patterns of the two continents. We also welcome contributions from multidisciplinary studies about other continental lithosphere in the world.
