Session Description | Analysis of materials has been among the essential methods for understanding the origin and evolution of the solar system. Much progress has been done in planetary science with the lunar samples returned by Apollo and Luna missions, as well as the meteorites and interplanetary dust particles obtained on and around the Earth. Recent space technology enabled us to recover the samples from primitive bodies by Stardust and Hayabusa missions. Currently new missions such as Hayabusa2, OSIRIS-REx, ChangE, Tampopo are on-going and in preparation to retrieve the new samples. There are also some missions under study. In this session, we will discuss about the latest scientific results of sample analysis, instruments and methods for sample analysis and curation, and plans of sample return missions and their context studies at the landing site. |
