Session Title Advance In The Study Of Earth's Mantle And Core
Main Convener Dr. Eh Tan (Academia Sinica, Taiwan)
Co-convener(s) Prof. Daoyuan Sun (University of Science and Technology of China, China)
Dr. Weijia Kuang (NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, United States)
Dr. Yang Li (Academia Sinica, Taiwan)
Prof. Risheng Chu (Chinese Academy of Sciences, China)
Session Description The Earth's mantle and core are enigmatic places. They are difficult to sample and probe. Studying the deep interior of the Earth thus requires inter-disciplinary collaboration. Recent progress on the dense and wide deployment of seismic array, high pressure apparatus, computer model, and numerical algorithm have helped us to improve the understanding of these regions. In this session, we solicit contributions of new advance on structure, dynamics and/or evolution of Earth's mantle and core, and their implications to geomagnetic field, plate tectonics and surface processes. We welcome contributions from seismology, mantle convection, geodynamo, mineral physics, and other related approaches.
