| Session Description | Clouds and water vapor play a significant role in Earth's hydrological cycle, radiation forcing and climate feedback. The representations of clouds and water vapor in climate models in previous CMIP5 assessment have shown large spread. Since then, substantial efforts have been undertaken by modeling groups to improve model performances in clouds and water vapor simulations. This session invites studies focusing on: (1) CMIP6 model improvements in simulating clouds and water vapor, including using observations to quantify model biases and guide model improvements; (2) advances in understanding physical and dynamical processes that are helpful for improving model parametrization of clouds and humidity fields. |
