Session Title Southeast Asian Climate Response To And Feedback On Global Climate Change
Main Convener Prof. Renguang Wu (Chinese Academy of Sciences, China)
Co-convener(s) Prof. Song Yang (Sun Yat-sen University, China)
Session Description At this session, scientists from different countries of the world will exchange research results on Southeast Asian climate and global climate change. The climate over Southeast Asia is characterized by many unique features and has been undergoing changes in different forms. This session will be devoted to addressing changes in Southeast Asian climate and their plausible links to global climate change. The climate over Southeast Asia is not just a passive response to global climate change. The climate signal over this region, as a major heat and energy source of the global climate, also drives the large-scale atmospheric circulation changes outside the region. Thus, this session will also focus on the feedback of the regional climate upon global climate. The mechanisms for attribution of different feedback processes on climate signals and influence of the climate change in Southeast Asia on global climate will also be particularly addressed. The session will attract scientists from both academic and operational sectors and from different fields of climate study.
