Session Title Nitrogen Cycling In Terrestrial And Aquatic Ecosystems
Main Convener Dr. Punyasloke Bhadury (Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Kolkata, India)
Co-convener(s) Prof. Dalin Shi (Xiamen University, China)
Session Description Terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems including freshwater and marine environment, play a major role in global nitrogen (N) cycle. The N cycling is strongly influenced by energy sources, redox conditions and nutrients loads in these ecosystems along with biota. Over the last few years, scientists working in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems have made exciting new advances towards understanding the role of factors controlling N cycling in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems and also from the larger context of climate change and anthropogenic activities. This international session encourages submission from all aspects of research dealing with nitrogen cycling in areas of terrestrial and aquatic domains with a particular emphasis on the role of biotic communities in mediating N cycling. Submissions are particularly encouraged from biogeochemists, ecosystem modellers, microbiologists and molecular biologists working in terrestrial and aquatic N cycling including coastal N cycling.
