| Session Description | With the development of analytical techniques, a number of biomarkers have been identified over the past decade and developed as new molecular proxies for sea (lake, air) temperature, soil pH, precipitation, organic carbon source and turnover rate, among others. Nowadays, biomarkers have become a powerful tool for the studies of biogeochemistry and paleoenvironment. The objective of this session is to bring together organic geochemists and biogeochemists to integrate our current knowledge about potential and challenge of biomarkers and compound specific stable/radiocarbon isotopes as well as their applications in both continental and marine systems. |
