Session Description | Management of coastal zones is a challenge due to a number of interactions between variables oceanographic forcings. These forcings oscillate in different ranges of temporal (e.g., hours, days, weeks) and spatial (e.g., tens, hundreds, thousands of meters) scales. Therefore, multi-disciplinary-scale approaches are required in order to provide actions to achieve a better coastal management. These approaches require different expertise to be integrated; hence, research teams comprising oceanographers, engineers, marine scientists and researchers of additional expertise often work in collaboration to provide better understanding of the dynamics underlying coastal management. Having said that, this section aims to enable the exchange and dissemination of knowledge, and ideas related to coastal management. This section then welcomes all abstracts on research regarding circulation of estuaries, bays, harbours and coastal areas, waves, sediment dynamics, wind driven currents and many other processes that might be considered in coastal management. |
