Session Description | New satellite missions focusing on the physics of the radiation belts and the inner magnetosphere are providing some of the best measurements ever made of key processes in these regions. These space-borne assets along with advances in theory and simulation have led to great progress in our understanding of the physics of acceleration, loss, and transport of energetic particles in the inner magnetosphere. This session focuses on the broad range of topics of the inner magnetosphere including plasmapshere and plasmapauseproperties, ring current evolution, wave properties, and energetic electron and ion populations. Presentations on theory, simulation, and data studies are encouraged. All research approaches to probe the inner magnetosphere dynamics are solicited for this special session. |
