Session Description | We are in the beginning period of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (SFDRR) 2015-2030. It will be a good time to share experience especially the developed or in-progress DRR-related practical activities. While new findings in research are helping us to better understand the mechanisms of such large events, it is important to consider what countermeasure and practical applications can be taken to reduce the impacts of future events. This session welcomes all interdisciplinary works from geoscience, information systems, engineering, social science and related areas. The session will cover research-based applications regionally and/or globally and all aspects of natural disaster including, but not limited to, 1) Seismic and non-seismic source and their return periods, 2) Earthquake/Tsunami modelling techniques and their application, 3) Deterministic, probabilistic disaster analysis and other statistical approaches, 4) Damage and risk assessment at both micro and macro scales and 5) ICT tools and dissemination methods for disaster risk reduction such as warning, evacuation and disaster education. This session will be a platform for presentations and discussions of interdisciplinary research on disaster risk reduction applications. |
