| Session Description | This session solicits papers on recent advances of satellite land surface product development, applications and validation. Land surface parameters and features have been observed for decades from a verity of environmental satellite platforms on geostationary and polar orbits. Such products and features include but not limited to: land surface temperature, snow cover, surface albedo, surface soil moisture, land cover and land use changes, and vegetation dynamics. Scientific and social applications of these satellite land surface products may include the search for long term trends of global climate, vegetation carbon stock/cycle, water and hydrological cycle, crop monitoring and productivity prediction, drought monitoring and hazard reduction, planning of urban and suburban development, improvement of numerical weather, climate and hydrological predictions, wild fire monitoring, flood monitoring, and among many others. Contributions to this session on data product development, quality assessment, and application methodology and benefits are all invited. |
