Session Title | Climate Change, Tropical Climatic hazards and Meridional Circulation Changes in Asia-Oceania |
Main Convener | Prof. Yuriy Kuleshov (Bureau of Meteorology, Australia) |
Co-convener(s) | Dr. David Jones (Bureau of Meteorology, Australia) Dr. Bertrand Timbal (National Environment Agency, Singapore) |
Session Description | The effects of climate change on climatic hazards in Asia Oceania need to be studied in detail. Of particular concern are climate extremes such as tropical cyclones, unusually warm ocean temperatures, sea level extremes, hydrological extremes (droughts and floods), and their impacts. Presentations in this session will be concerned with, but not limited to, results of research on climate extremes in Asia Oceania - examining historical trends in climate extremes, predicting climate extremes on sub-seasonal to seasonal (S2S), inter-annual, decadal and longer time scales as well as providing recommendations how to plan current and future adaptation policies. The session "Climate Change and Tropical Climatic Hazards in Asia Oceania" has been successfully conducted at eight consecutive meetings starting at AOGS 2009. We look forward to your contribution and successful 9th session at AOGS 2017 in Singapore. |
