Session Description The terrestrial and oceanic biospheres support large number of services to the human civilization, through agriculture, fishery, forestry etc. Tracking of their health, seasonal variations and long-term changes are important for our livelihood and predicting future prospects. It has been shown that the remote sensing from satellites is an effective way to map the global ecosystems, e.g., the AVHRR (NASA), MODIS (NASA), ALOS-PALSAR (JAXA). More recently, Greenhouse gases Observing SATellite (GOSAT), Orbiting Carbon Observatory (OCO-2) and the likes can visualise the carbon assimilations by plants and microbes as well as various means of breathing by our ecosystem (soil and plant respiration, fires) and fossil-fuel burning.

We solicit contributions in these aspects of remote sensing, and also from any forward looking instrumentation groups.
